Black Dog Farm Inn at Mount Welby is a very special place, and when you walk through the doors, you’ll immediately know why. Step back in time as you tread on original wood floors and antique rugs. All of the rooms feature antique furnishings & reproductions, put together with the finest sense of simplicity and elegance. The home is surrounded by beautiful gardens and natural meadows, home to our resident horses, goats, chickens & ducks.  

The eat-in kitchen features two walls of French doors that offer views of the garden and provide plenty of natural light. An L-shaped island with granite countertops houses the oven, range, sink and dishwasher, while the refrigerator with ice maker and extensive cabinets line the walls. Just over the counter is a long rectangular table that seats ten, perfect for morning coffee and casual dinners. 

The large living room is an open space with great views, a perfect place for the family to convene together. A stone fireplace with crisp white mantle is the centerpiece of the room, with deep scarlet walls, wooden floors, and a lovely antique rug contributing to the warmth of the room.  

The dining room has a large table that seats ten guests comfortably. Butter cream yellow walls, a stone fireplace, and an antique hutch and accessories make this room a fine place to enjoy a meal.

This expansive guest bedroom sleeps four and is situated off the central hall on the second floor. Original wood floors and antique furniture add to the charm and sophistication of this regal 22-foot-by-16-foot bedroom. The two solid wood, queen-size beds are both beautiful and comfortable with luxurious 700-thread count sheets, while the sitting area situated around the wood fireplace makes a perfect place to relax with a book. Windows to the west and south offer views of the manicured front gardens, pastures, and mountains.  

This cozy bedroom is also on the second floor off the back staircase. French doors open out to the terrace and let in fresh mountain air and cool breezes at night. The brass, queen-sized bed offers a comfortable place to rest your head, while the wood-burning fireplace adds charm in the summer and warmth in the winter.  The original wood floors and plush rugs provide comfort and beauty throughout the year.  

The Welby Suite is our most luxurious room with a king-size bed, stone fireplace, large private bathroom with jetted tub for two & walk-in rain shower, and French doors opening out to the upstairs patio.  Whether you are celebrating an anniversary or special occasion, or simply appreciate an elegant room to stay in, the Welby Suite will offer all the comfort and special touches you need for a memorable stay.

This beautiful, 5-stall barn is home sweet home to the horses and goats (and barn kitties!) who live at the farm.
